Utility Equipment Production Case Study
Business Objective:
A manufacturer of utility equipment was in the process of redesigning some of its meter products and sought customer input to help guide their efforts.
Research Objective:
Research was commissioned to explore reactions among utility engineers to various new meter designs.
Methodology:
Over several years, in conjunction with national customer meetings, several half-day sessions were conducted with utility personnel on a variety of issues (e.g., residential, small business and large-scale manufacturer metering; measuring usage at power substations, new product development). This particular study was part of that effort.
The Result:
Based on engineer input, the manufacturer was able to make adjustments to the new meter designs that improved their functionality and appeal to customers.
